ISTANBUL (IHA) - Turkish fixed-line operator Turk Telekom's (TTKOM.IS) net profit rose to 1.147 billion Turkish lira ($744 million) in the first half of 2010, the Istanbul Stock Exchange's website showed Monday.

Turk Telekom's net profit was TRY820.952 million in the corresponding period a year earlier.

According to a detailed income table from the website, the increase in net profit mainly stemmed from rising sales.

The company's income from sales rose to TRY5.24 billion in the first half of the year, from TRY5.14 billion a year earlier, while the cost of the sales fell to TRY2.3 billion from TRY2.4 billion.

The company's operating profit rose slightly to TRY1.4 billion in the first half of the year from TRY1.3 billion in the corresponding period a year earlier.

Turk Telekom listed on the Istanbul Stock Exchange in May 2008.
