- Turkey Central Bank: Inflation Indicators In Line With Targets
ISTANBUL (IHA) - The Turkish central bank said Tuesday that basic inflation indicators have been in line with medium-term targets.
Data from the Turkish Statistics Institute, or TUIK, Monday showed that the Turkish consumer price index fell 0.56% on the month in June, while producer prices fell 0.50% on the month in June. In annual terms, consumer prices rose 8.37% and producer prices increased 7.64%.
In its June price developments report, the central bank also said the base effect which stemmed from tax regulations on durable consumer goods will have a downward impact on basic goods' annual inflation in July.
Annual CPI in basic goods, excluding food, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco and gold, decreased 0.46 percentage point in June.
The central bank's quarterly inflation report, released in April, showed that the bank expected annual inflation in 2010 to be between 7.2% and 9.6%, with a midpoint of 8.4%.
