İSTANBUL (İHA) - Turkish automotive production rose 16% on the year in June to 104,237 vehicles, automotive association OSD said Friday.

The automotive production figures include passenger cars, commercial vehicles and tractors.

Turkish passenger car production increased 2% on year to 54,660 vehicles in June, OSD said.

In the January-June period, automotive production rose 40% on year to 561,229 vehicles; passenger car production was up 27% at 312,482 units.

Automakers in Turkey include Ford Otosan (FROTO.IS), Karsan (KARSN.IS), Hattat and Tofas (TOASO.IS).

Automotive production fell to 869,953 vehicles in 2009 from 1.147 million vehicles in 2008.
