- UPDATE: Turkey June Cash Deficit TRY10.3 Billion

ISTANBUL (IHA) - The Turkish Treasury said Thursday it posted a cash deficit of 10.3 billion Turkish lira ($6.65 billion) in June after TRY3.8 billion in interest payments.

The treasury's cash balance registered a deficit of TRY2.5 billion in June 2009.

The treasury said it posted a primary cash deficit before interest payments of TRY6.6 billion in June, compared with a TRY1.5 billion deficit a year earlier.

In the January-June period, the treasury posted a primary cash surplus of TRY4.7 billion, compared with a surplus of TRY1.3 billion in the corresponding period last year.

The treasury's cash balance registered a deficit of TRY20.3 billion in January-June after TRY27.6 billion of interest payments, compared with a cash deficit of TRY22.7 billion a year earlier.

In 2009 as a whole, the treasury posted a cash deficit of TRY49.4 billion.
